Another Exam Block? Already?
Wow...it seems like the other day I was partying that the first exam block was over...and now another one? Unfortunately this next one will be MUCH harder.
Biochem is over lots of stuff, mainly cellular respiration and carbohydrates. Dental anatomy will be a tough one too, I have to memorize every millimeter of every tooth, which also includes a tooth ID practical, one minute per tooth to determine what kind of tooth it is, from the upper or lower jaw and right or left side of the mouth. Example: Did you know that the maxillary 1st molar has 5 cusps (only four functional cusps though), with the smallest being the Cusp of Carabelli which is located on the mesio-lingual cusp (which is the largest cusp)? The maxillary first molar also has 3 roots with the mesio-buccal root being the largest root bucco-lingually? And that this root may contain 2 canals? if so, the second canal will be lingual to the first.
Last exam is of course gross anatomy. What a class, it's a job more like it. This exam is covering the face/head. Lots of stuff going on in that thing. Past couple days have been me with my plastic replica skull in the library. Gotta memorize all the bones and holes and bumps in the skull. If that's not hard enough, gotta learn all the muscles, vessels, and nerves. Oh yeah, remember everything that travels through all the holes in the skull.
Actually, it's really not that bad, I actually love dental school. Learn something new and interesting every day. Which reminds me, tomorrow we use the bone saw to open up the skull on our cadavers and take out the brain. Awesome...reminds me of zombie movies.
